💧A New Well, Closer to the Community
A new hand-dug well has been successfully completed in Bibugn, Ethiopia, as part of the "Water, Animals and Plants for a Sustainable and Peaceful Ethiopia II" project (WAP II). 🎉
While WAP II is made possible thanks to the continued support of our regular donors, this additional well was funded thanks to the generosity of all the participants of @raceforgift 🌟 Their contributions allowed us to build one more water point for the community.
The well provides cleaner, safer and more accessible water to 399 community members, including 202 women and girls and 197 men and boys — previously reliant on a distant river and an unprotected spring, which made water collection difficult and increased exposure to waterborne diseases.🚰
This achievement was made possible through the active participation of the community, whose commitment supported the construction from start to finish. 🤝
We are also grateful to our implementing partner Agri Service Ethiopia for their work on the ground.

Solar Energy Update: Powering Olive Farms in Al-Bab ☀️
Our solar units are still hard at work in the field, serving around 10 farmers each per month and irrigating up to 200-250 trees a day. 🌿
Units are fully booked through the month, with new booking lists already being prepared for the weeks ahead.
Our team has seen firsthand the impact this technology is having on the ground: helping farmers decrease irrigation costs and reduce fuel consumption. 💧

Restoring Degraded Land, Growing Community Resilience
Through the WAP II project, 25 hectares of degraded land have been identified for rehabilitation. 🌿
Tree-planting activities are now underway using multipurpose tree seedlings, with the active involvement of local community members. 🤝 Their participation is essential to restoring the land, protecting natural resources and strengthening the long-term resilience of the area. 🌳💧
By working together, the project is helping transform degraded land into a healthier, greener and more productive environment for present and future generations. 🌍🌱

During the first year of the Syrian Olive Sustainability project, we supported farmers in strengthening their skills, improving access to essential agricultural services, and building more sustainable olive production systems.
Key achievements as of today include:
✅ 45 farmers completed the first-year training cycle
✅ 5 technical and practical training sessions delivered
✅ 90 seasonal agricultural kits distributed
✅ 2 solar-powered irrigation units installed and operational
✅ 50,970 olive trees treated through two IPM campaigns
✅ 15,000 olive seedlings under cultivation in a smart nursery
These results mark an important step toward more resilient livelihoods, improved agricultural practices, and a stronger future for olive production in North-West Syria.
