Quarterly Update 🌱 | WAP II – Ethiopia
Four months into our project Water, Animals, and Plants for Sustainable and Peaceful Ethiopia II, we’re proud to share key progress in our core pillars:
🌿 Climate-resilient agriculture
🐑 Livelihoods for women & youth
🕊️ Peacebuilding & social cohesion
So far, we’ve achieved:
• 125 farmers (out of 150) supported in vegetable production
• 62 farmers engaged in vermicomposting
• 7 community learning groups (CoLFs) formed, bringing together 142 members
• 36 learning sessions delivered on agriculture, livelihoods, and peacebuilding
Behind these numbers are people rebuilding their lives, supporting each other, and creating new opportunities.

Next Humanitarian Era is a new 12-month programme by Mercy Hands Europe designed to support Geneva-based NGOs.
Starting in 2026, we will help organisations strengthen their financial stability, governance, and collective visibility through practical workshops, peer exchange, and targeted support — including tools to manage short-term cash flow challenges.
Who: Small and medium-sized NGOs based in Geneva
What: A 12-month resilience programme
When: Reach out today!
We’re starting strong with 2 founding members already on board and opening Next Humanitarian Era to a maximum of 10 organisations for this year’s pilot cohort.

Our field team has started supporting farmers with Integrated Pest Management practices to help protect crops and promote more sustainable agriculture 🚜✨
Each day, the team is visiting 2-3 farmers in the field, and the rollout will continue over the next 2-3 weeks across the districts⏳📍
This work is part of our ongoing follow-up with farmers after the distribution of kits and training sessions, ensuring they have the right support for healthier and more resilient crops 👩🌾
📷 The pest control products used are applied in controlled quantities with short residual effects to minimize environmental impact, while foliar fertilizers safely enhance olive tree health and productivity
