Supporting economic development in the Ninawa plains through the restoration of sustainable livelihoods.

The overall objective is to contribute to the agricultural development and overall economic recovery of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Ninewa Plains of Iraq.

The proposed intervention targets approximately 1,300 beneficiaries and contributes to the replacement and rehabilitation of assets and infrastructure related to specific agricultural value chains as well as water supply infrastructure for irrigation in the target areas. Mercy Hands focuses on livestock in general (poultry, sheep, goats, cows) as well as fruit and olive orchards and greenhouses.

The proposed intervention includes vocational training in construction techniques and facilitates access to grants for SMEs to start or restart their livelihood activities. Business management training will be provided to all beneficiaries at varying scales.
